Post 1: Ideas Generation
The song I have decided to use from the selection given is "The All Seeing Eye - 1st Man In Space" The audience that this song and animation will be targeted towards is people in their late teens and just becoming adults more specifically 16-20 year olds as I think this is a relatable story for them as although they do not likely have a family and kids as the song suggests but they do still have families and friends that they will have to leave when they move out of their parents home. I selected this song as it is the one that I can visualise as a stop-motion the most clearly.
My first idea for a stop-motion related to this song is for the first part of the song starting from 00:00 and concluding 01:00 to act as a metaphor for a young adult who lives on a rough street leaving home to make something of himself on some kind of deal with a large company or corporation. This will be inline with the lyric "it was a chance I could not pass upon". The main character will drive away from his family home and arrive at his new job and will begin to live an exciting life as say a successful sportsman. This will represent him being in space as he is so far away from his old life and it is completely different.
My second idea is for the music video to start with a man on stage singing the lyrics to a large audience, when the lyrics "Journey of a lifetime" are sung the man will be seen in a car driving away from his home that it in the background. Back at the stage after a few more lines he begins to float into the air look up ignoring the audience there is then a white flash, the man is seen back in his car however, this time it begins to take off of the ground and up into the air and then space he exits the car, the man in space with the earth the size of his hand he then begins to juggle it while he keeps singing. This will show how he is different from anyone on else on earth he then emphasises this further by throwing the earth that has turned in to a red ball at the camera, the ball will turn into a slime like substance that the man will wipe off of the camera which will now be out of focus, the man being in shallow focus, it re-focuses on him.
My third idea is for an astronaut to start by entering a ship then the space shuttle will take off from a suburban street with a mother and child waving it off in the background. The shuttle will then enter space and the astronaut will detach from it, he will then begin to sing the remaining lyrics.
I have selected my second idea to make into my music video, I have chosen this as I think it has the perfect balance of symbolic and explicit meaning for my target audience. I decided the first idea seemed vague and almost unrelated to the song and the third was to in line with the lyrics doing exactly what they say as they are sung. Though due to the age of my target audience I believe the meaning of say the ball in the second idea will not be wasted.
